Eric Hosmer ended his first month in the majors in style and the host Kansas City Royals beat the Los Angeles Angels 7-3 on Tuesday, winning for just the second time in 10 games.
Hosmer, a 21-year-old with a sweet lefty swing, went 2-for-4 with a two-run double highlighting Kansas City's five-run third inning. He has five homers and 17 RBIs since being called up early in May and boosted his batting average to .283.
Jeff Francis (2-5) pitched seven innings for the win while Joel Pineiro (2-2) took the loss.
The Angels fell to 3-2 on a six-game road trip that concludes Wednesday.
