Chris Kelly collected two goals and an assist and reigning Vezina Trophy winner Tim Thomas recorded his 28th career shutout as the Boston Bruins breezed to their eighth straight victory with a 6-0 triumph over the New York Islanders on Saturday.

Nathan Horton netted his fourth goal in six games and Patrice Bergeron, captain Zdeno Chara and defenseman Andrew Ference also scored for Boston, which has outscored its foes by a 42-14 margin this month.

The eight-game winning streak is Boston's best since it won 10 in a row from Dec. 12, 2008-Jan. 1, 2009.

Staked to an early lead, Thomas was never seriously challenged en route to stopping 23 shots for his second shutout of the season. The veteran netminder improved to 8-1-1 in his last 10 starts versus the Islanders.

Bergeron opened the scoring after banging home Tyler Seguin's backhanded centering feed on the doorstep at 7:08 of the first period.

The Bruins doubled the advantage after Horton denied Rick DiPietro's clearing attempt and quickly wristed a shot over the netminder's glove for a power-play goal. Horton also sunk the Islanders with two goals and an assist in a 6-2 win on Nov. 7.

DiPietro was pulled after stopping 10 of 13 shots in the first period for New York, which fell to 2-8-3 in its last 13 games.
