No. 15 Wichita State 67, Loyola Chicago 53: Fred VanVleet recorded 14 points and 10 assists as the Shockers posted a road victory.

Tekele Cotton made four 3-pointers en route to 16 points and VanVleet added six rebounds and three steals for Wichita State (14-2, 4-0 Missouri Valley Conference), which erupted for 44 points in the second half after trailing by five points at the break. Ron Baker pitched in 15 points for the Shockers.

Loyola (12-4, 2-2) was led by Earl Peterson's 13 points off the bench. Devon Turk contributed 11 points and five rebounds for the Ramblers, who shot a crisp 10-of-18 from 3-point range but made only seven of their 28 two-point attempts.

Loyola, which is off to its best start in nearly 50 years, made five 3-pointers in the first half and led 28-23 at the break. However, the Ramblers made only one bucket in the first 7 1/2 minutes of the second half, during which Wichita State opened up a 10-point advantage.

Evan Wessel and Darius Carter scored from close range on the Shockers' first two possessions of the second half before Cotton made back-to-back 3-pointers to give the visitors the lead for good. Shortly thereafter, a 10-3 run that included four points by VanVleet pushed the advantage to 45-34 with about 11 minutes left.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Shockers freshman F Shaquille Morris, who had contributed a combined 19 points off the bench in the preivous two games, was limited to three points off the bench. ... VanVleet entered shooting just 37.4 percent and had shot above 50 percent from the field only three times all season. He was 5-of-5 on Sunday. ... Carter finished with eight points, eight rebounds and three assists.
