Khyle Marshall added 18 points for Butler (13-16, 3-14 Big East), which snapped a seven-game losing streak. The Bulldogs dominated on the glass, 46-29, led by Kellen Dunham's nine boards.
Brandon Young scored 24 points to lead DePaul (11-20, 3-15), which lost for the 12th time in 13 games and clinched at least a share of last place in the league standings. Billy Garrett Jr. added 12 points and six rebounds, but no other Blue Demons player scored more than four points.
The Bulldogs came out fast, holding DePaul to just two points in the first 8 1/2 minutes of the game in taking a 15-2 advantage. The Blue Demons trailed by 10 with just under eight minutes to go in the half, but Butler never let up and pushed the lead to 20 by halftime.
Butler scored the first 10 points of the second half to push the lead to 30 and the rout was on. The Blue Demons never came closer than 25 the rest of the game, suffering their worst loss of the season.
GAME NOTEBOOK: DePaul's 18 points in the first half was its lowest scoring half of the season, replacing the 21 points scored in the first half of its last contest. … The Blue Demons hit 1-of-18 from 3-point range, matching their fewest 3-pointers of the season. … Dunham came into the game averaging 16.8 points but went 2-of-12 from the field, including 1-of-9 from 3-point range, and finished with six points.
