Texas Christian 73, Alaska Anchorage 70: Amric Fields scored four points in the final 10 seconds as the Horned Frogs came from behind to avoid the upset in the opening round of the Great Alaska Shootout.

Fields finished with 16 points and Kyan Anderson had a team-high 18 for TCU, which will play Tulsa in Friday’s semifinals. Jarvis Ray contributed 14 points and Brandon Parrish had 11 for the Horned Frogs (3-2).

Travis Thompson scored 19 points and Brian McGill had 16 for Alaska Anchorage (5-2). Brad Mears added 11 points and Teancum Stafford 10 for the Seawolves.

Alaska Anchorage had the ball and a one-point lead with 31 seconds remaining, but turned the ball over on an in-bounds pass. Fields then drove into the lane and banked his shot in traffic off the glass for a 71-70 lead with 10 seconds remaining.

The Seawolves threw the ball away on their end of the floor and it ended up in the hands of Fields, who was fouled and made both free throws with 2.4 seconds on the clock. McGill threw up a half-court shot at the buzzer that hit the front of the rim, allowing TCU to escape.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Fields was playing in his second game back after returning from a knee injury suffered in the third game last season. … The first half featured seven lead changes with the Seawolves leading by as many as six with five minutes remaining before taking a 35-33 edge into the half. … Alaska Anchorage, which had won five games in the previous three years at the tournament, dropped to 35-71 overall at the event.
