DePaul 81, Wright State 72: Cleveland Melvin had 23 points and 13 rebounds as the Blue Demons overcame the visiting Raiders in a non-conference matchup.
Brandon Young added 14 points while Tommy Hamilton IV chipped in 13 for DePaul (2-1), which rallied with a game-ending 20-4 run. The Blue Demons dominated the glass, winning the rebound battle 34-19.
Wright State (1-2) was paced by JT Yoho's 13 points. AJ Pacher and Matt Vest both scored 11 and Jerran Young added 10 points.
The Raiders jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the opening minutes, but the Blue Demons scored the next eight to set up a half of back-and-forth play. Neither team could forge a significant advantage in the half, which ended with Wright State up 35-33.
A 9-2 run to start the second half put the Raiders ahead 44-35 with 18:12 to play, and Wright State continued to lead, holding a 68-61 advantage with eight minutes to go. But Melvin scored 10 points to fuel the final burst as the Blue Demons won going away.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Preseason All-Horizon League pick Cole Darling made his first extended appearance of the season but managed just nine points for Wright State. … Melvin passed the 1,500-point plateau in career scoring, becoming only the ninth player in school history to accomplish the feat. … This was the first meeting between the two schools.
