Baylor 80, Colorado 63: Brady Heslip scored 27 points, including nine 3-pointers, to lead the Bears to the Sweet 16 for the second time in three years.

Heslip, a sophomore guard, had 18 in the first half for the third-seeded Bears (29-7), who will play No. 10 seed Xavier or No. 15 Lehigh in the South Regional semifinals Friday in Atlanta.

Heslip made four straight 3-pointers late in the first half and converted 9 of 12 attempts overall, falling two shy of the NCAA record.

Pierre Jackson added 15 points, 10 assists and six steals for Baylor, which led 63-60 with 7:34 left before unloading a barrage of 3-pointers.

Heslip and Jackson made back-to-back 3s, and Heslip added another on the ensuing possession, all part of a 14-0 run that broke open what was otherwise a closely contested game.

Baylor led just 37-35 at the half and twice fell behind early in the second half.

The Buffaloes (24-12) couldn’t answer the Bears’ consistent 3-pointers and an untimely four-minute scoring drought late didn’t help.

Askia Booker finished with 15 points for No. 11 seed Colorado, which played Baylor every year from 1996 through 2011 when both were members of the Big 12 Conference.

Austin Dufault had 14 points, and Carlon Brown and Andre Roberson each added 13.

Baylor scored more than half of its points (46) on 3-pointers and free throws and outrebounded the Buffaloes 34-27, including a 13-6 edge on the offensive glass.

Quincy Acy finished with seven points and a game-high 10 boards for Baylor.
