LaceDarius Dunn scored 15 of his 24 points in the second half, including a key outside shooting barrage that helped Baylor pull away for a 72-60 win over Lipscomb on Monday night in Waco, Tex.
Dunn was making his season debut, after sitting out the first three games for a violation of team rules. He was involved in a domestic dispute and was accused of breaking his girlfriend's jaw. Charges were withdrawn, but the case is still under investigation.
The Bears (4-0) took an early 9-0 lead but couldn’t shake the Bisons, who went into halftime down by just seven points, 35-28. Dunn nailed four straight three-pointers to start the second half, however, the last of those giving Baylor a 47-30 cushion with 17:19 remaining. The margin stayed between 14 and 20 points until the final minute of play.
Baylor supplemented Dunn’s three-point display with a strong inside performance. The Bears outrebounded Lipscomb, 44-33, and held a 37-22 edge in points in the paint.
Quincy Acy finished with 18 points and 14 rebounds for Baylor. Jordan Burgason led the Bisons (2-2) with 15 points.
