Francisco Lindor had the first five-hit game of his career and Carlos Carrasco pitched eight stellar innings to help the New York Mets roll to a 9-0 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday and finish a three-game sweep in Phoenix.
Lindor homered, had two triples and scored three times to lead a 17-hit attack as New York matched its season-best winning streak of five games. Pete Alonso and Francisco Alvarez each homered and drove in three runs for New York.
Carrasco (3-3) allowed three hits and one walk while snapping a five-start winless stretch. He struck out four and left after 96 pitches.
The one-sided score wasn't the only downer for the Diamondbacks as All-Star outfielder Corbin Carroll departed in the seventh inning with right shoulder discomfort. Manager Torey Lovullo said afterward that Carroll is slated to undergo an MRI exam on Friday.
It is the second time in a week in which Carroll injured the shoulder.
Arizona has lost four straight games and eight of its last 12. It is the first time the Diamondbacks have been blanked this season.
Alvarez homered in all three games of the series. He was hit by a pitch from Jose Ruiz in the seventh, causing the benches to clear, one night after wildly celebrating a tying homer in the top of the ninth.
Arizona's Ryne Nelson (5-5) was torched for seven runs and nine hits in three innings. He struck out one and walked none.
The Mets started their assault in the first inning when Lindor tripled with two outs and Alonso followed with a line-drive bullet over the fence in left. It was Alonso's 26th homer of the season.
New York added five runs in the third. Lindor again got the uprising going when he tripled with one out and scored on Alonso's single.
Daniel Vogelbach followed with a run-scoring double to make it 4-0. Jeff McNeil hit a ground-rule double later in the inning and Alvarez followed with a booming homer to left center to make it 7-0.
Alvarez, who has 16 homers, has four blasts over the last five games.
Alvarez added an RBI single in the fifth to make it 8-0. One inning later, Lindor unloaded on a fastball from Drey Jameson and sent it 437 feet over the fence in right center. It was Lindor's 18th homer of the season.
