Randal Grichuk homered among his two hits, Kris Bryant and Nolan Jones also went deep, and the Colorado Rockies beat the New York Yankees 7-2 in Denver on Friday night.
Giancarlo Stanton hit a two-run homer and finished with two hits, Gleyber Torres had three hits and DJ LeMahieu contributed two hits for New York, which has dropped five of its past six games.
The Yankees took advantage of the thin air in the first inning. Torres led off with a single and Stanton followed with his 10th homer of the season to make it 2-0.
Colorado answered in the second inning. C.J. Cron walked with one out, Grichuk singled and Ezequiel Tovar singled to bring home Cron with the Rockies' first run. After Alan Trejo flied out, Yankees starter Carlos Rodon uncorked a wild pitch to move up the runners, and Brenton Doyle drove in both with a double.
Grichuk led off the bottom of the fourth inning with his fifth home run of the season to give Colorado a 4-2 lead.
That was all Rodon (0-2) gave up before departing after five innings. He struck out six and walked two in 88 pitches.
Rockies starter Austin Gomber cruised after the first inning, retiring seven straight in one stretch and working out of a jam in the sixth. Stanton led off with a double to short right field and moved to third on a groundout to second.
Gomber got Harrison Bader to fly out to short left field and Josh Donaldson to line out to left to end the threat.
Gomber (8-7) allowed two runs on six hits, struck out two and didn't walk a batter in his six innings.
Colorado added a couple of insurance runs in the seventh inning against reliever Michael King. With one out, Doyle walked and stole second, and Bryant homered to left field, his seventh of the season.
Jones capped the scoring with a solo homer in the eighth inning, his sixth of the season.
