Jean Segura belted two home runs, Bryce Harper hit a two-run double in the seventh inning and the visiting Philadelphia Phillies continued their surge with a 5-3 victory over the New York Mets on Saturday night.
The Phillies (76-72) won for the fifth time in seven games and beat the Mets for the fifth consecutive time.
Philadelphia now trails the Atlanta Braves by one game in the NL East and remains 2 1/2 games behind the St. Louis Cardinals for the second wild card.
Philadelphia right-hander Aaron Nola (8-8) allowed one run and four hits in 5 2/3 innings for his first win since July 25. He struck out nine, walked one on 96 pitches and improved to 9-3 lifetime against the Mets.
New York (72-77) has lost five games in a row since taking two of three from the New York Yankees last weekend.
Francisco Lindor hit an RBI grounder in the sixth. Dominic Smith had a pinch hit single in the seventh and Brandon Nimmo homered in the eighth for the Mets.
New York's Carlos Carrasco (1-3) allowed both Segura homers among five hits in six innings. He struck out five and walked two.
Segura recorded his sixth career multi-homer game and hit his ninth and 10th career homers against the Mets. He connected for a 1-0 lead two batters in against Carrasco's fastball and then made it 2-0 in the third by hitting a slider into the left field seats.
The Phillies added three in the seventh off Brad Hand and Trevor May.
Brad Miller opened the inning with a double, advanced on a wild pitch by Hand and scored on a double by Freddy Galvis. After Hand hit Odubel Herrera, May allowed Harper's double down the right field line for a 5-1 lead.
Nola was lifted after walking Pete Alonso, and Jose Alvarado ended the sixth by fanning Michael Conforto. Sam Coonrod allowed two hits in the seventh and retired Jonathan Villar to end the inning.
Hector Neris allowed Nimmo's homer but quickly finished the eighth. Ian Kennedy pitched a perfect ninth for his eighth save in 11 chances with Philadelphia.
