Austin Slater had two hits, including a home run, Alex Dickerson also went deep, and the host San Francisco Giants beat the Colorado Rockies 5-2 on Tuesday night.
Joey Bart had two doubles to help San Francisco (27-27) move into a tie with the Milwaukee Brewers and Cincinnati Reds for the two National League wild-card playoff spots. The Reds have four games left; the Giants and Brewers each have six games remaining.
San Francisco reliever Tyler Rogers (3-3) got the win despite blowing a seventh-inning lead, and Sam Coonrod picked up his third save.
Raimel Tapia, Kevin Pillar and Matt Kemp had two hits apiece for Colorado. The Rockies (24-30) are three games back in the NL wild-card standings.
Kyle Freeland went six innings for Colorado, and he gave up two runs on five hits and three walks with one strikeout.
Dickerson pinch-hit to lead off the seventh and homered against reliever Jairo Diaz (1-2) to put San Francisco ahead 3-2.
Bart then hit a ground-rule double and Slater had a one-out infield single to put runners on the corners. AJ Ramos relieved Diaz and gave up a two-run double to pinch hitter Brandon Belt to make it 5-2.
The Giants took the early lead when Slater led off the bottom of the first with his fifth home run of the season.
It stayed that way until the fifth when San Francisco's Daniel Robertson led off with a single and Bart followed with a double to center to make it 2-0. San Francisco threatened to get more after a groundout and a walk put runners at the corners, but Freeland got Wilmer Flores to hit into an inning-ending double play.
Colorado finally broke through against Giants starter Drew Smyly in the sixth. Pillar walked, stole second and moved to third on a single by Trevor Story. Pillar scored on Charlie Blackmon's fielder's choice, which marked the end of the night for Smyly.
The left-hander allowed one run on four hits, struck out five and walked two in 5 1/3 innings.
Trevor Cahill came in and struck out Josh Fuentes, walked Matt Kemp stuck out Ryan McMahon to keep it at 2-1.
The Rockies then tied it in the seventh when Tapia hit a two-out single and scored on Pillar's double.
