Bryce Harper hit a two-run home run, J.T. Realmuto and Maikel Franco each added a solo homer and the host Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Miami Marlins 4-0 on Friday.
Phillies starter Jerad Eickhoff (1-1) pitched seven strong innings, giving up just two hits and no runs while striking out six and walking one. He threw 86 pitches, 57 for strikes, and lowered his ERA to 2.12.
It was the first time in Eickhoff's career that he lasted at least seven innings and allowed two hits or fewer with no runs.
The game began more than 90 minutes late because of thunderstorms in the area.
Marlins starter Jose Urena (1-4) battled through seven innings and tossed 112 pitches while allowing four hits and two runs. He walked three and struck out four.
Miami managed only five hits, two by former Phillie Jorge Alfaro.
Realmuto gave the Phillies an early 1-0 lead with one out in the first inning as he launched a solo home run to right field.
Eickhoff allowed only a walk through the first four innings.
Urena allowed a leadoff walk in the bottom of the fourth, but then got Nick Williams to ground into a double play. Two pitches later, however, Franco responded with a solo shot to right, his seventh of the season, to widen the Phillies' lead to 2-0.
Alfaro broke up the no-hitter with a single to lead off the fifth.
In the sixth, Urena walked Harper and Rhys Hoskins with one out, but he wriggled out of trouble by striking out Williams and getting Franco to fly out to left.
Miguel Rojas opened the eighth with a single off Phillies reliever Edubray Ramos. Two outs later, pinch hitter Neil Walker drew a walk off lefty Adam Morgan. Isaac Galloway then pinch hit for Curtis Granderson and popped up to Hoskins.
Harper sealed the win with a towering two-run homer in the eighth off Tyler Kinley for a 4-0 advantage. It was Harper's sixth homer of the season.
