One streak was extended, but another was snapped for the San Diego Padres on Sunday.

First baseman Adrian Gonzalez hit a home run for the fourth consecutive game, but the Reds rallied in the eighth inning and snapped San Diego's winning streak at eight games with a 5-4 victory.

Gonzalez extended his home run streak in his second at-bat of the day, giving San Diego a 2-0 lead when he took Homer Bailey deep to right in the top of the fourth.

Unlike the past two games, though, the Reds answered Sunday.

Jay Bruce and Ramon Hernandez delivered RBI singles in the bottom of the fourth to tie it, after Kyle Blanks put the Padres back in front with a two-run double in the sixth, the Reds cut the deficit to 4-3 on Scott Rolen's solo home run in the bottom of the inning. It was Rolen's fifth home run of the year.

Rolen also scored the tying run in the eighth, advancing to third on a Bruce double and scoring on Gonzalez's fielding error. Hernandez added his second RBI single of the day one batter later, scoring Bruce to give the Reds their first lead of the series.

Francisco Cordero made the lead hold up, walking two but leaving them stranded in the ninth for his seventh save. Arthur Rhodes (1-1) pitched a perfect eighth for the win, and Mike Adams (0-1) was tagged with the loss. Adams pitched the eighth, allowing two runs on three hits and walking two.
