Anthony Beauvillier scored the tiebreaking goal 5:41 into the third period Thursday night to begin a five-goal flurry by the New York Islanders, who continued their home dominance of the Boston Bruins with a 7-2 win in Uniondale, N.Y.
Jordan Eberle, Jean-Gabriel Pageau, Anders Lee and Oliver Wahlstrom added goals within a six-minute span later in the third for the Islanders, who didn't score more than four goals in any of their first 18 games this season.
Adam Pelech and Mathew Barzal scored in the first for New York, which scored its most goals since an 8-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Jan. 14, 2020.
Semyon Varlamov made 34 saves for the Islanders, who are 3-0-0 against the Bruins at Nassau Coliseum this season.
Nick Ritchie scored 1:02 into the first Craig Smith scored a game-tying goal with 8:24 left in the second for the Bruins, who are 11-1-2 in games not played at Nassau Coliseum. Goalie Jaroslav Halak recorded 30 saves.
The Bruins, who hadn't given up more than four goals in their first 16 games, surrendered their goals and suffered their most lopsided regular-season loss since a 9-3 defeat at the hands of the Vancouver Canucks on Feb. 22, 2020.
Halak turned back a shot by Beauvillier to begin the sequence that led to the game-winning goal. Bruins right winger Chris Wagner corralled the puck and dished to Trent Frederic, but Beauvillier swooped in, stole the puck and fired a shot between Halak's legs in one motion.
Barzal and Eberle teamed up for a 2-on-1 goal a little under five minutes later, when Barzal dished the puck through Ritchie to Eberle, who shuffled for a couple strides before sending a forehand into the upper right corner of the net with 9:15 left.
Halak, who played for the Islanders from 2014-18, smashed his stick on the post. Things quickly turned worse for Halak, who was beaten for a breakaway shorthanded goal by Pageau just 1:39 later.
Lee put back the rebound of a shot by Noah Dobson with 5:16 to go and Wahlstrom capped the surge with 3:27 left.
