Blackhawks 6, Senators 5: Captain Jonathan Toews completed his third career regular-season hat trick by snapping a tie midway through the third period as host Chicago rallied past Ottawa.

Andrew Shaw scored two goals, including a power-play tally in the first period to extend his team's streak to six consecutive games with a man-advantage goal. Corey Crawford turned aside 14 shots in relief of Nikolai Khabibulin (18 saves) and former Senator Marian Hossa netted his 100th career goal with the Blackhawks, who have won six of their last seven versus Ottawa.

Milan Michalek and Kyle Turris each scored and set up a goal and Mika Zibanejad and defenseman Joe Corvo also tallied for the Senators. Clarke MacArthur notched a pair of assists for Ottawa, which has dropped four of its last five games and fell to 2-6-1 against the Western Conference this season.

After Corvo and Zibanejad scored 55 seconds apart to give the Senators a 4-2 lead and send Khabibulin to the showers, Toews trimmed the deficit by burying a wraparound with 5 1/2 minutes remaining in the middle period. The captain tallied again by skating toward the net and steering a brilliant pass from defenseman Johnny Oduya past Craig Anderson (34 saves) at 1:20 of the third period before capping his natural hat trick nearly eight minutes later, when he put in the rebound of blue-liner Brent Seabrook's shot from the slot.

Shaw scored a much-needed insurance goal with 5:50 remaining in the third to extend Chicago's lead to 6-4 before Zack Smith answered 13 seconds later.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Toews has registered four hat tricks during his career, with one coming in the postseason. ... Chicago will visit the White House on Monday to celebrate its second Stanley Cup championship in four seasons. ... Ottawa captain Jason Spezza was rejoined by RW Bobby Ryan on the team's top line. Coach Paul MacLean had opted to separate the two in an attempt to generate more offense, but the club mustered just three goals in the previous two games.
