Terrell Brown Jr. scored 21 of his 25 points in the second half as Washington rallied to defeat Washington State 78-70 in a Pacific-12 Conference game Saturday afternoon in Seattle.
The Huskies (14-13, 9-8) snapped a four-game losing streak and earned a split with their in-state rivals after the Cougars (15-13, 8-9) won by the same 78-70 score Wednesday in Pullman, Wash.
Michael Flowers tallied a season-high 30 points with seven 3-pointers for WSU, which has lost six of its past seven games.
The Huskies got a boost from the return of Emmitt Matthews Jr. and Daejon Davis. Matthews, who missed Wednesday's contest while in the concussion protocol, had 15 points and eight rebounds. Davis, who missed five games with a shoulder injury, added nine points, seven rebounds and a game-high five assists.
The Huskies opened the second half with a 12-2 run to take a 40-36 lead.
Brown converted a three-point play to give the UW a 37-36 lead they wouldn't relinquish, and Nate Roberts followed with another three-point play after grabbing an offensive rebound.
The Huskies extended their lead to nine points, the last with 2:39 left, before the Cougars clawed their way back, pulling within 71-68 on Tyrell Roberts' 3-pointer with 1:12 left.
After the teams traded two free throws apiece, the Huskies broke WSU's full-court press and Matthews made a breakaway dunk with 28 seconds left to help clinch the victory.
Flowers scored 20 points in the first half as the Cougars took a 34-28 lead into the intermission.
He made his first six shots from the field -- five of those 3-pointers. His pull-up jumper in the lane gave WSU a 15-8 advantage with 13:05 left, its biggest lead of the half.
The Huskies had a chance to tie the score late in the half as Davis was fouled intentionally while driving for a layup following a steal. Davis made one of two free throws to make it 31-28 but the Huskies committed a turnover on the ensuing possession and Flowers was fouled while attempting a 3-pointer with 45 seconds left and converted all three free throws to provide the halftime margin.
The Huskies shot 48.1 percent from the field (26 of 54) while limiting WSU to 34.3 percent (24 of 70).
