Terrell Brown Jr. scored a game-high 27 points on 11-of-18 shooting from the field as Washington posted its third consecutive Pacific-12 Conference victory, defeating Oregon State 82-72 on Thursday night in Corvallis, Ore.
Brown also had six rebounds and five assists. Emmitt Matthews Jr. added 16 points, PJ Fuller scored 11 and Jamal Bey had 10 for the Huskies (9-7 overall, 4-2 Pac-12).
Washington was without head coach Mike Hopkins, who was placed in the COVID-19 protocol earlier in the day. Assistant Will Conroy, the school's all-time leader in assists, filled in for Hopkins.
Dashawn Davis led the Beavers (3-14, 1-6), who lost their fourth in a row, with 17 points and eight assists. Roman Silva added 13 points and eight rebounds, Glenn Taylor Jr. scored 10 points, and Warith Alatishe contributed nine points and 10 boards.
The Huskies overcame a 38-36 halftime deficit.
Brown made a driving layup with 15:18 remaining to give the Huskies a 44-43 lead and spark a 6-0 run.
Washington never trailed after that, extending the lead to as many as 12 on a Brown jumper in the final seconds.
The Beavers were within 73-68 when Davis made a basket and was fouled with 1:49 left, but he missed the ensuing free throw and Fuller sank a 3-pointer at the other end to help clinch the victory.
The Beavers, who reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament last spring, took their largest lead at 36-31 on a hook shot in the lane by Silva with 51 seconds remaining before the intermission.
Matthews was fouled on a 3-point attempt and made all three free throws to make it 36-34.
A driving layup by Taylor put Oregon State back up by four before a Brown layup with two seconds left pulled the Huskies within 38-36.
The Huskies shot 54.5 percent overall from the field (30 of 55) while limiting Oregon State to 45.8 percent (27 of 59). The Beavers were 3 of 19 from beyond the 3-point arc, and the Huskies held a 16-6 edge in fastbreak points.
