Jaiden Delaire beat the buzzer with a 3-pointer Sunday night to give host Stanford a 72-69 Pac-12 Conference victory over Oregon at Palo Alto, Calif.
The dramatic ending occurred after Oregon (5-5, 0-2 Pac-12) had rallied from a 14-point deficit with 16:43 remaining to take a 66-65 lead with 2:36 to go.
Neither team scored after Will Richardson's 3-pointer drew the Ducks even one final time at 69-all with 1:06 to go until Delaire's game-winner, which came after Richardson misfired on a 3-pointer with three seconds remaining.
After a Harrison Ingram rebound and a timeout for Stanford, Ingram fired a 40-foot inbound pass into the front court to Delaire, who calmly dribbled up to the 3-point line on a left-side angle and buried the 23-footer.
Delaire finished with a game-high 20 points for Stanford (5-3, 1-1), which successfully rebounded from a conference-opening loss at Colorado last Sunday.
Ingram chipped in 16 points and a team-high-tying eight rebounds for the Cardinal, while Michael O'Connell added 15 points.
Nine of Ingram's 16 points came on 3-pointers. Thanks to Delaire's final hoop, the Cardinal outscored the Ducks 24-21 from beyond the arc.
Quincy Guerrier paced the Ducks with 18 points while also finding time for a game-high nine rebounds.
Richardson, who accounted for four of Oregon's seven 3-pointers, finished with 15 points, while Rivaldo Soares added 10.
Stanford led most of the game, using an 8-0 run at the end of the first half to build a 37-30 advantage at the break, before extending the lead to 45-31 on a Delaire layup with 16:43 remaining in the game.
But the Ducks, attempting to get back to .500 in the conference after an opening loss to Arizona State, chipped away, eventually grabbing their first lead since the first half at 66-65 on a Jacob Young layup with 2:36 left.
