Jay Heath made a 3-pointer with 15 seconds left in overtime to lead Arizona State to a 69-67 win Sunday over Oregon, the Sun Devils' first win over the Ducks at Matthew Knight Arena at Eugene, Ore.
Arizona State (3-6, 1-1 Pac-12) had lost seven consecutive games at the arena. The Sun Devils' previous win at Oregon was 10 years ago at MacArthur Court.
Heath's shot occurred after an attempt beyond the arc by Oregon's Will Richardson was off the mark.
Oregon's 3-point try by Rivaldo Soares was blocked out of bounds by Enoch Boakye with seven seconds left.
After timeouts by both teams, Richardson's jumper in the lane missed and Arizona State's DJ Horne grabbed the rebound as time expired.
Horne scored a game-high 23 points, including a 3-pointer with 3.5 seconds left in regulation to force overtime with a tie at 60.
Oregon (5-4, 0-1) was led by Franck Kepnang, who scored six of his 17 points in overtime.
The game had 12 lead changes and 11 ties.
Neither team had more than a four-point lead in the second half and in overtime.
Arizona State scored the first four points of overtime on layups by Kimani Lawrence and Jalen Graham to take a 64-60 lead.
Oregon responded with a 5-0 spurt that included a Kepnang layup and dunk and the Ducks led 65-64 with 2:05 left.
Heath, who had 14 points, made a basket on a goaltending call on Kepnang, who answered with another layup to put Oregon ahead 67-66 with 1:26 remaining.
After a failed possession by both teams, Horne's winning 3-pointer closed the scoring.
Lawrence had 13 points and six rebounds for Arizona State, which was coming off a 51-29 loss at home against Washington State on Wednesday.
De'Vion Harmon and Soares each had 11 points for Oregon.
At the end of regulation, after Heath missed a 3-pointer, Graham got the offensive rebound and fed Horne, who tied the game at 60 with 3.5 seconds.
Guerrier's 3-pointer at the buzzer fell short.
Arizona State, which had only 10 points at halftime of Wednesday's loss to Washington State, went on a 10-2 run to take 16-6 lead with 12:26 left in the first half.
Oregon rallied back scoring 10 unanswered points to take a 22-21 lead with 6:08 before halftime.
