Freshman guard Tyrell Terry had a career-high 27 points, and Stanford held off visiting Utah 70-62 in a Pac-12 game on Wednesday night.
Oscar da Silva scored 13 of his 20 points in the first half for the Cardinal (19-9, 8-7 Pac-12).
Stanford, which almost blew an 18-point lead it built in the first half, has won three consecutive games after losing four straight games.
Timmy Allen fueled Utah (15-13, 6-10) in the second half with 13 of his 17 points.
Utah went on a 9-2 run to cut the lead to 63-60 with 3:01 left. The Utes did not score again until the game was no longer in doubt with 14 seconds left.
Each team had two failed possessions before Jaiden Delaire made a 3-pointer with 1:06 remaining to increase the Cardinal's lead to 66-60. Delaire finished with 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field.
After a missed 3-point attempt by Utah's Rylan Jones, Stanford's Daejon Davis missed the front end of a one-and-one free throw situation. Utah's Both Gach could not convert on the other end, and Terry was fouled by Allen, who fouled out on the play.
Terry made both free throws to put Stanford ahead 68-60 with 41 seconds left.
Jaxon Brenchley had 13 points off the bench for Utah. He made 5 of 7 shots from the field, including 3 of 4 from 3-point range. Gach had 15 points for the Utes, who have lost four of their last five games. They are 1-9 on the road this season, including an 0-8 mark in Pac-12 play.
Utah shot 57.7 percent from the field in the second half to finish at 49 percent overall. Stanford made 45.6 percent of its field-goal attempts but outscored the Utes 33-12 from 3-point range. Terry hit 7 of 11 shots from beyond the arc.
Stanford led 34-16 with 4:20 left in the first half, then went into halftime ahead 34-22. The Cardinal took a 53-40 lead with 11:56 left in regulation before Utah started its rally.
