Isaiah Joe scored 33 points to help Arkansas improve to 4-0 under new coach Eric Musselman with Tuesday night's 82-51 victory over Texas Southern in Fayetteville, Ark.
Joe scored 29 points in the second half, with 18 coming on 3-pointers (6 of 9). The other Razorbacks combined to shoot 0 of 13 from beyond the arc for the game.
Jimmy Whitt Jr. added 17 points, on 8-of-13 shooting , with 10 rebounds and Desi Sills had 10 points.
Musselman, who turned 55 Tuesday, was given a technical foul for arguing with the referees despite the Razorbacks leading by 30 points with 8:32 left.
Texas Southern (0-4) was led by Tyrik Armstrong's 15 points and five assists. The Tigers shot 34.5 percent (19 of 55) from the field.
Arkansas led by as many as 19 points in the first half before taking a 37-24 halftime lead. The Razorbacks built that cushion despite missing all 13 attempts from 3-point range.
Texas Southern's 12 turnovers that led to a 12-2 points-off-turnovers edge for Arkansas, which also outscored Texas Southern 26-14 in the paint in the first half.
Whitt led the Razorbacks with 11 points and seven rebounds in the half.
Texas Southern shot only 9 of 30 (30 percent) in the first half. Armstrong was 5 of 7 for 11 points.
Arkansas, which led for all but 18 seconds in the game, pulled away for good with a 12-0 run in the second half to take a 54-28 lead with 14:41 left in regulation. Joe made three 3-pointers in that stretch.
Texas Southern, playing its first six games of the season on the road, committed 24 turnovers in the game that led to 28 points for Arkansas. The Razorbacks outscored Texas Southern 44-28 in the paint.
