UCF 103, Tulane 100 (3OT): Freshman B.J. Taylor finished with a career-high 33 points, including the decisive three-point play in triple overtime, to lead the host Knights past the Green Wave in an American Athletic Conference thriller.
Brandon Goodwin added 18 points while Kasey Wilson and Staphon Blair scored 15 apiece for UCF (9-7, 2-3 AAC), which shot 52.3 percent from the field. Adonys Henriquez totaled 11 points, including a team-high three 3-pointers, as the Knights connected on 10-of-23 attempts from beyond the arc.
Louis Dabney registered 26 points to lead the offense for Tulane (12-5, 3-2), which played its second straight overtime game and fell for the second time in its last three outings. Jay Hook scored 25 points and led the Green Wave with nine rebounds and a season-high seven 3-pointers, while Jonathan Stark broke a personal slump by scoring 18 points and dishing out a game-high 10 assists.
A 3-pointer from Hook gave Tulane a 73-72 lead with 18 seconds left in regulation, but Goodwin split a pair of free throws to answer and both sides failed to capitalize on chances to win in the waning seconds. Dabney connected from 3-point range with 1:49 to go in the first overtime before a Taylor layup evened things up at 83-83 for the final points of the period.
Dabney's 3-pointer with 43 seconds left in double overtime evened the score at 91-91 but Hook missed a half-court attempt and Goodwin's desperation try would not fall either as the teams headed to a third overtime period. A pair of Goodwin turnovers in a span of 38 seconds led to layups from Dylan Osetkowski and Stark to give Tulane a 97-96 edge, but Taylor split a pair of free throws to even the score yet again and followed with the game-winning score before adding two more tries from the free-throw line to help put an end to the marathon for UCF.
GAME NOTEBOOK: UCF moved to 9-2 against Tulane and won for the seventh straight time in the series. ... Henriquez has scored 10 points or more in seven consecutive games. ... Stark, who had managed just 1-of-16 from the floor the last two games while afflicted with an upper respiratory infection, connected on 8-of-18 attempts.
