Lucas Duda and Rosell Herrera each had RBI singles, helping the Royals win for only the second time in their last 13 games, and the third time in their last 20.
The Angels dropped their third straight game and have their next nine on the road. They couldn't get anything going against Keller (2-2), who made his fifth straight start after coming out of the bullpen for most of the first two months of the season.
The Royals right-hander struck out six and issued two walks, one to Mike Trout and the other to Albert Pujols.
Both starters pitched well. Tyler Skaggs (6-5), after being scratched from his scheduled start Thursday due to a sore hamstring, surrendered only one run on seven hits in seven innings, striking out eight and walking two. The left-hander has lasted at least seven innings in his last three starts.
The Royals scraped together their only run off Skaggs in the fourth inning. Hunter Dozier led off the inning with a double to deep center, and Duda drove him in with a single to give Kansas City a 1-0 lead.
The Royals picked up an insurance run in the eighth inning. Adalberto Mondesi led off the inning with a walk and advanced to third on a single by Whit Merrifield. Herrera followed with a single, plating Mondesi and extending Kansas City's lead to 2-0.
It's a quick, one-game series for the Angels and Royals, who were making up an April 15 contest that was postponed due to cold weather.
It's also the first of 10 straight road games for the Angels, who began the trip 10 1/2 games back of the first-place Houston Astros in the American League West. Los Angeles now heads to Boston for a three-game series against the Red Sox, beginning Tuesday.
The Royals hit the road for five straight, beginning Tuesday at the Milwaukee Brewers.
