Angels 10, Rockies 8: Mark Trumbo homered twice and drove in a career-high six runs, Torii Hunter added three hits and three RBIs and visiting Los Angeles outslugged Colorado in a wild one to finish a three-game sweep at Coors Field.

The game ended in controversy, as a disputed double play squelched Colorado's ninth-inning rally and ended with Rockies manager Jim Tracy being ejected by home plate umpire Greg Gibson.

With a runner at first and no outs, Carlos Gonzalez hit a hard line drive back to the mound. Angels closer Scott Downs appeared to snare it but lost the ball when transferring it from the glove to his hand, and Gibson ruled no catch. Both runners froze, though, and Downs started a 1-6-3 double play to kill the rally and prompt a furious Tracy to emerge from the dugout.

The Angels improved to 9-2 all-time at Coors Field and topped six runs for the sixth consecutive game. The Rockies, who have lost five straight and six of eight, dropped to 0-6 in interleague play this season.

Most of the scoring was done in the first four innings, as each team scored six runs in the first two frames. The Angels tacked on three in the fourth, and Colorado answered with one in the bottom half, but the bats went quiet until Howie Kendrick's RBI single in the eighth made it 10-7 Los Angeles.

Colorado got one back on Marco Scutaro's RBI single in the ninth and had the tying run at the plate, but Downs worked out of the jam, with the help of the controversial double play, for his sixth save.

Los Angeles battered starter Christian Friedrich (4-2) for nine runs (eight earned) on 10 hits in four innings. Friedrich gave up both of Trumbo's three-run homers, as well as a two-run blast to Hunter in the second.

Trumbo had the second multi-homer game of his career - and his second in six days - by the fourth inning. He capped a four-run first with a three-run shot and added another three-run bomb to left in the fourth to give the Angels the lead for good after the Rockies had erased a 6-1 deficit.

Angels starter Ervin Santana (3-7) won for the first time since May 15 despite giving up seven runs on nine hits in 5 2/3 innings. Santana gave up a pair of homers in the second inning - Tyler Colvin's three-run shot and Carlos Gonzalez's two-run blast.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Angels OF Mike Trout went 2-for-5 to finish the series with eight hits. He has recorded multiple hits in seven of his last nine games. … Colvin hit three home runs in the last two games of the series after hitting only three all season heading into the weekend and going 50 plate appearances between his third and fourth homers. … Santana, who snapped a winless streak spanning four starts, has allowed four or more runs in each of his last four outings.
