Diamondbacks 12, Astros 3: Jason Kubel blasted three home runs and drove in six and Wade Miley threw seven strong innings to set a franchise rookie record with his 11th win as Arizona sent visiting Houston to its 18th setback in 20 games and its sixth straight series loss.
Kubel's first two blasts came against starter Dallas Keuchel, as he opened the scoring with a two-run shot just over the glove of leaping left fielder J.D. Martinez in the first and turned on a first-pitch fastball for a three-run blast in the fourth. Kubel made it his first three-homer game with a solo shot into the second deck in left-center against Enerio Del Rosario in the sixth - his 20th of the season.
Willie Bloomquist added two hits and three RBIs for the Diamondbacks, who kept pace with National League West leader San Francisco and remain seven games back.
Miley (11-5) had a career-high nine strikeouts in seven innings and allowed one run on four hits. By notching his 11th win, he snapped a tie with Oscar Villarreal (2003), Brandon Webb (2003) and Josh Collmenter (2011).
Keuchel (1-2) allowed seven runs (six earned) on seven hits and four walks over 3 1/3 innings in his fourth major-league start.
