Dodgers 6, Astros 3: A.J. Ellis hit a three-run homer with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning as host Los Angeles avoided its first three-game losing streak of the season.
After Wesley Wright (0-1) hit Andre Ethier with an 0-2 pitch to lead off the ninth, pinch hitter Scott Van Slyke sacrificed him to second against reliever Wilton Lopez. James Loney was intentionally walked before Ellis crushed a 1-1 fastball into the left-field bleachers for his first career walk-off homer.
Houston, which had a four-game winning streak snapped, tied the contest in the eighth on Jason Castro's groundball
double down the left-field line off Kenley Jansen after Brian Bogusevic and
Chris Johnson walked with two outs against Ronald Belisario.
Jansen (4-0), the fourth Dodgers reliever, pitched a perfect ninth
inning after blowing his third save in nine chances.
Houston's Bud Norris was 4-0 with a major league-best 0.35 ERA in May, but struggled Saturday. He allowed three runs, eight hits and walked four in 4 2/3 innings while throwing 116 pitches.
The Dodgers' Chad Billingsley allowed two runs and five hits in five innings and hasn't won in eight straight starts (0-3, five no-decisions).
Houston took a 2-0 lead on Carlos Lee's RBI single in the first inning and Jordan Schafer's bases-loaded walk with one in the second. After Jose Altuve struck out for the second out, right fielder Ethier robbed J.D. Martinez with a shoe-string catch to prevent further damage.
Ethier's two-out RBI double in the third inning made it 2-1 and Tony Gwynn Jr. delivered a two-out, two-run single in the fourth inning to put the Dodgers ahead 3-2.
Loney went 3-for-4 and scored a run for Los Angeles.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Matt Kemp will play two games with Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday and Monday before rejoining Los Angeles on Tuesday. The Dodgers are 8-4 since he went on the disabled list with a hamstring injury ... Martinez made a nice running catch of an Ellis drive on the warning track in left center field for the first out of the fourth inning ... The Astros fell to 8-2 in Norris' starts this season ... Ethier leads the National League with 41 RBIs ... The Dodgers are 8-0 on Saturdays ... Los Angeles is the only team without a three-game losing streak this season.
