Callaspo put the Angels up 3-0 with a two-run shot in the third off Francisco Liriano (0-5), who allowed four runs on five hits over five innings.
Minnesota, which has lost 12 of its last 14 games, cut the Angels’ lead to 5-3 with two runs in the eighth inning on Joe Mauer’s RBI single and Ryan Doumit’s sacrifice fly.
The Angels answered with three runs in the top of the ninth when Callaspo singled home a run and left fielder Erik Komatsu dropped Mark Trumbo’s fly ball, allowing two runs to score.
Albert Pujols, who snapped his season-long homerless drought on Sunday, is batting .197 after going 1-for-5 with two RBIs.
