Mets 7, Braves 5: Jon Niese took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and Ruben Tejada went 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs as host New York completed a three-game sweep of Atlanta.

Daniel Murphy added two hits and two RBIs and David Wright hit a sacrifice fly for the Mets.

Niese (1-0), who signed a $25 million contract extension at the end of spring training, was bidding for the first no-hitter in franchise history. The 25-year old left-hander ran into trouble in the seventh, when he allowed a leadoff walk to Brian McCann.

Freddie Freeman followed with a single to break-up the bid and Matt Diaz reached on an error in right that led to a run, ending the shutout. Niese was lifted following a two-run double by Jason Heyward.

Mike Minor (0-1) suffered most of the damage for the Braves, serving up six runs and six hits in five innings while striking out six and walking four.

The Mets struck in the first inning, when Tejada led off with a double and came in on Wright’s sacrifice. Jason Bay added a sacrifice fly in the fourth and New York broke it open in the fifth on Murphy’s two-run double.

Frank Francisco earned his third save in as many games for the Mets.

GAME NOTEBOOK: McCann recorded his first hit of the season with a solo homer in the eighth for Atlanta. … New York pitchers recorded 25 strikeouts in the series. … Mets LH Tim Byrdak recorded a hold for the second straight day and has retired all three batters he has faced.
