Wily Mo Pena continued his comeback tour with a go-ahead solo homer in the eighth inning to lift the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks to a 7-6 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Friday.
Xavier Nady drove in three runs and Justin Upton scored a pair for the Diamondbacks, who have won four straight games.
Pena had not played in the majors since 2008 before being recalled by Arizona on Tuesday.
On Friday, he singled in a run in the fourth inning and came up again with two outs in the eighth. Pena worked the count to 2-2 before taking a belt-high pitch from David Purcey (1-1) and rocketing it down the left field line for his second homer in four games.
The Tigers held leads of 4-0 and 6-3, but the Diamondbacks fought back with three runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth. They knotted it at 6-6 when Ryan Perry came on in relief of Phil Coke and uncorked a wild pitch that plated Stephen Drew from third.
Esmerling Vasquez (1-1) picked up the win with a scoreless inning of relief and J.J. Putz worked the ninth for his 21st save of the season.
