Three layups by guard Malachi Flynn in the last 2:13 of the game sparked Washington State to a 79-74 win over Washington on Sunday in the Pac-12 opener for both teams in Seattle.

A layup by Flynn with 14 seconds remaining put the Cougars ahead 75-71, part of eight straight points that started with another layup by Flynn.

Flynn made one other layup with 49 seconds left, dribbling past Washington's half-court defense. He scored 13 of his 16 points in the second half.

Flynn's two free throws with 0.7 of a second left sealed the win.

Forward Josh Hawkinson led the Cougars (8-5) with 26 points and eight rebounds.

Guard Markelle Fultz and forward Noah Dickerson combined for 26 of the Huskies' 34 points in the second half. Fultz had 15 points and Dickerson 11 in the half. Fultz finished with 26 points, nine rebounds and 11 assists. Dickerson had 19 points.

Washington State outscored its archrival 18-0 between the first and second halves to get back in the game and establish a lead.

Washington (7-6) built as much as a 13-point lead in the first half, but Washington State closed the last 1:03 of the half with a layup by guard Charles Callison and two free throws by guard Ike Iroegbu to cut the lead to 40-33.

The Cougars made their first four field goals of the second half, part of a 14-0 stretch to take a 47-40 lead with 17:19 left. The Huskies started the half missing their first seven shots while committing two turnovers.

A 3-pointer by Huskies guard David Crisp with 15:58 left cut the Cougars' lead to 49-44.

A layup by Hawkinson gave Washington State a 62-55 lead with 9:58 left in regulation.

Five points by Fultz and four by Dickerson fueled a 9-2 run to tie the score at 64 with 7:38 remaining.
