Lighting up the scoreboard in another blowout win, Creighton took down Texas-San Antonio 103-78 Tuesday in Omaha, Neb., powered by an outstanding shooting performance from the opening tip.
Creighton dominated from the start, shooting 64 percent from the field from the first half. That allowed the Blue Jays jump out to a quick 20-6 lead and go into the break up 61-37.
By the time the Roadrunners (0-2) reached double digits with 10 minutes left in the half, Creighton was already running away, up 25-11, and soon the lead was 32-13.
The Bluejays (2-0) wound up shooting 54.7 percent for the game, going 15-for-35 from 3-point distance.
Creighton was able to spread the wealth on offense, with 10 different scorers on the night, six of them scoring in double digits. Leading the way were junior guard Isaiah Zierden with 24 points and junior forward Cole Huff with 17 points.
Senior guard Ryan Bowie led UTSA with 23 points and 10 rebounds. His all-around performance included a hot 3-point shooting night: 5-for-7 from behind the arc. Guard Gino Littles added 16 points.
Creighton travels to face 14th-ranked Indiana on Thursday night. UTSA takes on Southern Utah on Saturday, still in search of its first victory.
