No. 12 Wichita State 75, BYU 62: Ron Baker scored a career-high 23 points and the undefeated Shockers used a late run to pull away from the Cougars in the title game of the CBE Hall of Fame Champions Classic in Kansas City, Mo.

Fred VanVleet had 10 of his 12 points in a game-turning stretch for Wichita State (7-0), which has won every game this season by double digits. Cleanthony Early also had a dozen points for the Shockers, who outscored the Cougars 23-9 in the game's final six minutes.

Matt Carlino paced BYU (5-2) with 21 points but the Cougars went cold down the stretch and missed their final 15 field-goal attempts. Tyler Haws scored 17 points but shot just 3-for-15 from the field.

The Cougars led by as much as 13 points in the game's early stages. Carlino, a transfer from UCLA, had 18 points at the half as BYU took a 36-34 advantage into the break.

There were 45 fouls assessed in the taut, physical contest, that featured 10 lead-changes before Baker's jumper gave the Shockers a 54-53 with 6:12 to play and they never trailed again. Wichita State took advantage of two technicals in the final minute to extend the lead as BYU went without a field goal for the final 8 1/2 minutes.

GAME NOTEBOOK: With the score tied at 51, BYU's Kyle Collinsworth knocked down three Shockers on one offensive possession before finally being called for his fourth foul. The play drew the ire of Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall, who protested the physical play which included an elbow to Baker. ...Baker was later elbowed by Nate Austin with 45 seconds left and that resulted in a flagrant 2 foul and Austin's ejection. ...BYU was 0-10 from 3-point range in the second half.
