West Virginia 92, No. 8 Kansas 86: Juwan Staten recorded 24 points, nine assists and five rebounds as the Mountaineers survived a furious rally by the visiting Jayhawks in the final game of the Big 12 regular season for both teams.

Eron Harris added a team-high 28 points, including five 3-pointers, for West Virginia (17-14, 9-9 Big 12), which shot 52.9 percent from the field. Devin Williams chipped in with a career-high 22 points and 13 rebounds for the Mountaineers, who went 9-of-16 from beyond the 3-point arc.

Andrew Wiggins led the way with a career-high 41 points to go along with eight rebounds, five steals and four blocks for Kansas (23-8, 14-4), which finished 22-of-32 from the free-throw line. Perry Ellis recorded 14 points and five boards while Naadir Tharpe was held scoreless for the Big 12 champions.

West Virginia made 12 of its first 17 shots to take a 34-23 lead and Williams led all scorers with 18 points in the first half to put the Mountaineers on top 50-38 at the break. Harris and Remi Dibo each knocked down two 3-pointers during a 14-1 run to open up the second stanza to stretch West Virginia's advantage to 25.

Wiggins did his best to keep the scoreline respectable by keying a 14-5 run to trim the deficit to 69-53 and he later hit a clutch triple to close the gap to 10 with 6:24 remaining. Wiggins triggered a 12-0 run to pull Kansas within 85-80 before the Mountaineers sank seven free throws in the final minute to secure their first-ever victory over the Jayhawks.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Williams has recorded three consecutive double-doubles and has eight in his first collegiate season. … West Virginia is only the second team to shoot better than 50 percent against Kansas this season. … Staten has dished out five or more assists in 22 of his 29 games.
