Warren, the leading scorer in the Atlantic Coast Conference, shot 63.6 percent in the second half as North Carolina State (6-2) won its fourth in a row. Anthony Barber added 19 points and Desmond Lee had 15 points.
Dan Jennings' 18 points led a balanced attack for Long Beach State (1-9), which extended its losing streak to nine games. Mike Caffey followed with 16 points on 50 percent shooting from the floor and David Samuels had 15 points and 11 rebounds.
After trailing by seven at the half, the 49ers pulled to within 50-49 early in the second half, but the Wolfpack scored 11 of the next 13 points to open the gap back to 61-51. Long Beach State could not get any closer than eight the rest of the way as the Wolfpack shot 50 percent from the floor.
Barber and Lee collected 11 points apiece in a tight first half, shooting a combined 53.8 percent from the floor to counter Jennings' 12 points in the half for the 49ers. The Wolfpack closed out the first 20 minutes by breaking a 25-25 tie as Barber's seven points sparked an 11-4 run over the final 5:30, giving North Carolina State a 36-29 lead at the intermission.
