No. 2 Indiana 83, Purdue 55: Will Sheehey turned in a perfect shooting performance from the field and scored a career-high 22 points as the host Hoosiers overcame a first-half injury to Victor Oladipo to rout the Boilermakers.
Sheehey broke a school record by hitting all nine of his field-goal attempts – including two 3-pointers – and Cody Zeller added 19 points and nine rebounds for Indiana (23-3, 11-2 Big Ten), which also handed Purdue its worst home loss in school history on Jan. 30.
Oladipo, a national player of the year candidate, appeared to sprain his left ankle near the end of the first half as he attempted to chase down a layup attempt by the Boilermakers’ Terone Johnson. Oladipo returned to the sideline early in the second half and briefly rode a stationary bike before sitting on the bench for the duration of the game.
Christian Watford scored eight of his 13 first-half points for the Hoosiers in the opening moments and Sheehey gave Indiana a double-digit lead it would not relinquish with 12:13 left. Although Purdue rallied to within 41-29 at halftime, Sheehey scored 16 of his team's first 27 points over the first 11:42 of the second half to stretch the margin to 68-44.
Terone Johnson and Anthony Johnson each finished with 11 points for the Boilermakers (12-14, 5-8), who has lost five of six.
