Louisiana State 57, Vanderbilt 56: Anthony Hickey scored 14 points, including four 3-pointers, as the Tigers held on to beat the visiting Commodores for the first time since 2006.
Malik Morgan and Charles Carmouche added nine points apiece for LSU (13-7. 4-5 SEC), which led by as many as 11 in the second half en route to its third straight win. Vanderbilt rallied with four 3-pointers in the final two minutes, but the Commodores weren't able to complete the comeback.
Rod Odom scored 17 of his 20 points in the second half for Vanderbilt (8-13, 2-7), which missed 16 of its first 20 shots and shot 31.5 percent overall. Baton Rouge native Dai-Jon Parker added 11 points and nine rebounds.
LSU sophomore forward Johnny O’Bryant III was held to 10 points on 3-for-11 shooting along with five rebounds, ending his streak of five straight double-doubles.
The Tigers snapped a seven-game losing streak against Vanderbilt, which was 8-of-27 from 3-point range. The Commodores have lost four straight and seven of their last nine.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Vanderbilt sophomore PG Kedren Johnson, who entered the game averaging a team-high 14.9 points, had seven points on 2-of-12 shooting. … LSU led 31-18 at the break after closing the first half on a 16-0 run. …Four of Vanderbilt’s conference losses have come by four points or fewer.
