Vanderbilt 58, South Carolina 51: Kyle Fuller scored 12 points off the bench, and the visiting Commodores posted their first SEC victory.

Dai-Jon Parker added 11 points for Vanderbilt (7-9, 1-3 SEC), which did not have another double-figure scorer. The Commodores picked up the win despite taking 22 less shots than South Carolina, missing 13 free throws (20 of 33) and committing 18 turnovers.

Reserve Brenton Williams led the way with 16 points for the Gamecocks (11-6, 1-3) but was 3-for-10 from the field. Nobody made more than three field goals for South Carolina, which shot 23.7 percent (14-of-59) despite taking 22 more shots than Vanderbilt.

Vanderbilt used a 10-0 run and sprinted to a 15-8 lead with over 10 minutes remaining on Fuller's 3-pointer. After South Carolina ended a scoring drought of nearly 10 minutes that saw them miss 11 straight shots, the Gamecocks were within one point but consecutive layups by Fuller and Sheldon Jeter gave the Commodores a 24-19 lead at halftime.

The Commodores held a 45-35 lead with 8:35 remaining, but the Gamecocks used a 14-6 run to get within 51-49 with 2:56 to play on Bruce Ellington's jumper. South Carolina could not get any closer as Vanderbilt made 7 of 12 foul shots in the final 76 seconds to clinch it while the Gamecocks missed eight of their final nine shots.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Ellington had reached double figures in his first four games against Vanderbilt but was held to seven points on 2-of-13 shooting. ...
