Kendall Marshall orchestrated a lethal fast-break attack as No. 8 North Carolina whipped Georgia Tech 93-81.
Marshall dished out nine first-half assists as the Tar Heels built a 52-32 lead. Marshall finished with 12 assists and seven points while committing just one turnover. Harrison Barnes led all scorers with 23, hitting all three of his 3-point tries.
UNC (18-3, 5-1 ACC) won its 31st straight home game and second straight since losing shooting guard Dexter Strickland to a season-ending knee injury. The Tar Heels snapped a four-game skid against Georgia Tech.
The Yellow Jackets (8-13, 1-6 ACC) have dropped five straight and nine of 10 in a rebuilding year under new coach Brian Gregory. Guard Mfon Udofia scored 14 of his team-high 16 in the first half.
With his 246th career blocked shot in the first half, Tar Heels junior John Henson moved past Sam Perkins into second place on UNC’s all-time list. Brendan Haywood holds the school record with 304. Henson finished with four blocks.
