Terrell Stoglin scored six of his 23 points during a critical late run as Maryland escaped with a 77-74 home win over Mount St. Mary's.
The Terrapins (5-3) trailed, 68-67, when Stoglin re-entered the game at the final media timeout with 3:32 remaining and connected on three consecutive jumpers. The last of those baskets gave Maryland a 73-70 cushion with 1:49 on the clock. The Mountaineers (1-7) twice cut the deficit to one in the final minute but could not regain the upper hand.
Mount St. Mary's stayed in the game thanks to a torrid outside shooting night, making 11 of 21 3-point shots, but the visitors were unable to get a clean look from beyond the arc on their final possession, settling for a layup that left them down by a point.
James Padgett added 15 points for Maryland, which won back-to-back games for the first time this season. Julian Norfleet paced four Mount St. Mary's players in double figures with 18 points.
