UNLV used an 8-0 run in the second half to shake off stubborn visiting USC 66-55 in the Las Vegas Invitational on Friday.
The Running Rebels (6-0) advance to Saturday’s final, where they will meet either No. 1 North Carolina or South Carolina.
Oscar Bellfield led the Running Rebels with 11 points. Mike Moser and Justin Hawkins each added 10 points for the Running Rebels, who finished 7-for-24 from 3-point range.
UNLV and USC (2-4) swapped the lead for most of the second half until UNLV scored eight consecutive points to build a 52-46 advantage with 7:37 remaining.
UNLV came in averaging 83.2 points while USC had scored only 56.4. But the Trojans shot 56 percent in the first half, scoring seven consecutive points to go up 31-29 on Byron Wesley’s layup with 1:09 left in the half.
Wesley and Aaron Fuller had 16 points apiece for USC, which will face the North Carolina-South Carolina loser Saturday.
