Trevor Releford scored a game-high 22 points and host Alabama advanced to the NIT semifinals with a 79-64 victory over Miami on Wednesday.
Tony Mitchell had 16 points and nine rebounds for No. 1 seed Alabama (24-11), which improved to 19-0 at home. The Crimson Tide will face fellow No. 1 seed Colorado at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday.
Durand Scott scored 19 points, and Reggie Johnson had 14 points and seven rebounds for second-seeded Miami (21-15), which was 2 for 15 from 3-point range.
Alabama, which opened the tournament with home wins over Coastal Carolina and New Mexico, shot 54.5 percent from the field and led by 17 after JaMychal Green’s dunk with 5:53 remaining. Green finished with 14 points and six rebounds.
Miami, which committed a combined 15 turnovers in its first two NIT games, had 19 against the Crimson Tide.
