Mississippi State capped a season sweep of in-state rival Mississippi, beating the Rebels 71-58 Saturday in Starkville, Miss.
Renardo Sidney scored a game-high 22 points and added 12 rebounds for the Bulldogs (14-12, 6-6 SEC), who snapped a two-game losing streak.
Chris Warren and Terrance Henry each scored 13 points to lead Mississippi (17-10, 5-7 SEC), which dropped out of a three-way tie for second place in the SEC West with the Bulldogs and Arkansas.
The Bulldogs used a 15-2 run early in the second half to break a 39-39 tie and grab control. Ravern Johnson started the run with a 3-pointer. Riley Benock hit two 3-pointers during the run, and his two free throws with 11:33 left gave the Bulldogs a 54-41 advantage. The Rebels got no closer than eight points the rest of the way.
Mississippi travels Tuesday to South Carolina. Mississippi State plays host to LSU on Wednesday.
