Rob Chubb scored a career-high 18 points and Josh Wallace added a career-best 17 points, helping Auburn break through for its first SEC win, a 79-64 victory at South Carolina on Saturday.
The Tigers (8-13, 1-6 SEC) created some breathing room with a six-point spurt late in the first half, and they maintained a relatively comfortable cushion the rest of the way. South Carolina (12-7, 3-3 SEC) twice cut it to five in the second half, but Auburn put it away with a 10-0 run that made it 67-52.
Auburn held a 45-32 rebounding edge over the Gamecocks, who entered as the SEC's top rebounding team.
Earnest Ross and Chris Denson added 10 points for the Tigers, who snapped a six-game losing streak with their first win since Jan. 3.
Ramon Galloway scored 20 points, and Sam Muldrow added 14 for South Carolina. Leading scorer Bruce Ellington was held to nine points, his second consecutive game in single digits.
The Gamecocks were 7 for 33 from 3-point range.
