Rookie Ty France hit two home runs, matching the total from his previous 48 major league games, and the San Diego Padres spoiled manager Bruce Bochy's final meeting against his former team with an 8-4 victory over the host San Francisco Giants on Sunday afternoon.

Eric Hosmer collected a single, a double and a triple, and left-hander Eric Lauer carried a lead through six innings, helping the Padres win for the third time in the four-game series.

The 64-year-old Bochy, who has announced he will retire at year's end after 25 seasons as manager, saw his career record fall to 1,992-2,014.

The first 951 of those wins came as 12-year skipper of the Padres, a stretch that included an appearance in the 1998 World Series.

After both teams scored twice in the first inning, France gave San Diego the lead for good with a one-out solo home run in the second inning off Giants starter Jeff Samardzija (9-11).

The score remained 3-2 until the sixth, when Hosmer tripled and scored on Wil Myers' one-out double.

After Austin Allen drew a walk, Bochy pulled Samardzija in favor of Fernando Abad, whose first pitch was smacked over the right field fence by France for a three-run shot that made it 7-2.

Lauer (8-8) served up a two-run, game-tying home run to Kevin Pillar in the bottom of the first inning, before settling down. The long ball was Pillar's 20th.

The San Diego lefty allowed another two-run homer, this one to Evan Longoria, in the bottom of the sixth, pulling the Giants within 7-4. The homer was Longoria's 18th of the year.

Lauer finished the inning before leaving the game, charged with four runs on six hits in six innings. He struck out nine without issuing a walk in running his record to 3-0 against the Giants this season.

Samardzija was roughed up for six runs and nine hits in his 5 1/3 innings. He walked one and struck out two.

Greg Garcia also homered for the Padres, his fourth of the season, on the eighth pitch of the game, triggering a two-run first that was capped by Hosmer's RBI double.

Manny Machado and Josh Naylor also had two hits for the Padres, who lost the season series to the Giants 10-9.

Pillar and Donovan Solano logged a pair of hits apiece for the Giants, who completed a 1-5 homestand.
