Flames 4, Oilers 2: Lance Bouma scored twice during a four-goal third period as host Calgary continued its domination of provincial rival Edmonton with a stunning comeback.
Paul Byron ended a 28-game goalless drought and Sean Monahan scored on the power play as the Flames improved to 4-0-0 against the Oilers this season with their sixth consecutive victory in the series. Mikael Backlund and David Jones each collected a pair of assists while Jonas Hiller turned aside 17 shots as Calgary posted its league-best ninth win when trailing after two periods.
Jordan Eberle scored a goal and set up Benoit Pouliot's tally for Edmonton, which dropped to 4-13-7 away from home. Ben Scrivens (29 saves) carried a shutout into the third before allowing the four goals to lose for the fourth time in five starts.
Outscored 13-6 in losing the first three meetings this season, the Oilers jumped on top when Eberle scored off a faceoff, beating Hiller from the right hash marks at 2:43 of the opening period. Eberle set up the next goal nine minutes later, skating behind the net and feeding an uncovered Pouliot in front for an easy conversion and a 2-0 advantage.
The Flames stormed back as Mason Raymond's turnaround shot deflected off Byron and past Scrivens at 2:56 before Bouma buried a wrister from the right faceoff circle 3:20 later. Monahan's attempted pass into the crease caromed off the skate of Oilers defenseman Keith Aulie and into the net at 8:39 before Bouma finished a 2-on-1 rush with Backlund, converting from the same spot as his earlier tally with 3:33 remaining.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Hiller improved to 16-4-1 against the Oilers, while Pouliot scored his eighth goal in 12 games since returning from a broken foot on Jan. 2. ... Flames RW Jiri Hudler missed the game due to illness, clearing the way for the NHL debut of German-born LW David Wolf, who suffered a lower-body injury early in the third period. ... Oilers LW Taylor Hall (leg) sat out his third straight game while D Nikita Nikitin is expected to be sidelined four-to-six weeks due to a shoulder injury sustained in Thursday's game versus Buffalo.
