Blackhawks 3, Lightning 2 (SO): Patrick Kane scored the only goal in the shootout as host Chicago ended Tampa Bay’s six-game winning streak.

Brad Richards and Marcus Kruger scored for the Blackhawks in regulation before Kane flipped a backhand shot over Ben Bishop in the second round of the bonus format. Corey Crawford turned aside 25 shots and made three stops in the shootout as Chicago ended its five-game losing streak against the Lightning.

Cedric Paquette and Nikita Kucherov recorded goals for the Lightning, who successfully killed all six Chicago power plays while extending their point streak to seven games (6-0-1). Ben Bishop made 37 saves for Tampa Bay, which finished its road trip 2-0-1.

Chicago took a 2-1 lead when defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson kept the puck in at the blue line after a turnover and unleashed a shot that was deflected past Bishop by Kruger in front 1:18 into the third. The Lightning tied the game with 10:07 left in regulation as Kucherov swept home a cross-crease pass from captain Steven Stamkos.

Bishop stopped all 19 shots he faced in the first period and Paquette gave the Lightning a lead at 4:35, beating Crawford between the pads during a 2-on-1 short-handed rush. Richards tied it four seconds after a power play expired by knocking in a loose puck 9:13 into the second after his original shot attempt hit teammate Kris Versteeg.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Tampa Bay C Tyler Johnson left the game after being cross-checked in the ribs by Blackhawks D Brent Seabrook in the third period and did not return. … Chicago captain Jonathan Toews, who was robbed by Bishop on a breakaway with 8:20 left in the third period, played in his 500th NHL game. … The Blackhawks beat the Lightning for the first time since Dec. 12, 2009 (4-0 in Chicago).
