Rangers 5, Oilers 0: Mats Zuccarello and Rick Nash each scored twice and Cam Talbot made 26 saves to secure his third career shutout as visiting New York breezed to its sixth win in seven games.
Derick Brassard recorded his career-high 18th goal and Derek Stepan notched three assists in the rout. Zuccarello also set up a goal for the Rangers, who matched St. Louis with their 24th road victory and moved two points ahead of third-place Philadelphia in the Metropolitan Division.
Defenseman Anton Stralman wired a blast from the point that Zuccarello deflected past Ben Scrivens (27 saves) with 3 1/2 minutes remaining in the first period to open the scoring. The goal was the Norwegian's first since he tallied twice against New Jersey at Yankee Stadium on Jan. 26 - a span of 17 games.
Brassard doubled the advantage at 4:38 of the second, when his attempted pass from along the right-wing boards during a power play caromed off the stick of Edmonton rookie defenseman Martin Marincin and into the net. Nash's sharp-angle shot from along the end line gave at 9:07 New York a 3-0 lead before he netted his team-leading 25th goal 4:19 later, converting a 2-on-1 short-handed rush.
Zuccarello netted New York's second short-handed goal of the game when he scored from the slot at 3:49 of the third period. Making his first start since March 13, Talbot hardly was tested in the first before stopping 13 shots in the second.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Nash settled for his fifth two-goal performance of the season after Scrivens denied him with a glove save midway through the third period. One fan at Rexall Place thought Nash netted his third goal as a hat was tossed on the ice. ... Edmonton has yielded an NHL-high 13 short-handed goals this season. ... Stepan's three assists gave him 53 points on the season, besting his previous career high of 51 set in 2011-12.
