Jets 7, Stars 2: Dustin Byfuglien scored two goals and set up another and Blake Wheeler notched four assists as host Winnipeg emphatically snapped a six-game winless skid (0-3-3).
Defenseman Tobias Enstrom and Olli Jokinen each collected a tally and two assists for the Jets, who set a season high in goals and moved within four points of Dallas for the second wild card in the Western Conference. Blue-liner Jacob Trouba, Evander Kane and Michael Frolik also tallied and Al Montoya made 25 saves in the victory.
Tyler Seguin scored his career-high 30th goal - and fifth goal in three contests at Winnipeg this season - to extend his point streak to five games. Alex Chiasson also tallied and Cristopher Nilstorp (14 saves) relieved Tim Thomas (four goals on 17 shots) for the Stars, who are even in points with Phoenix despite playing one fewer game.
Winnipeg seized a 3-2 lead with 2:58 remaining in the first period as Wheeler followed his own rebound and fed Enstrom, who beat Thomas low to the glove-side. Jokinen chased the veteran netminder 29 seconds into the middle session and Byfuglien beat Nilstorp from both the point and in front to put the game out of reach before leaving with a lower-body injury.
Trouba opened the scoring 3:11 into the contest before Chiasson knotted it up just over three minutes later after tapping home a loose puck that Montoya failed to secure. Seguin gave Dallas the lead just 37 seconds later by breezing through the slot and backhanding the puck past Montoya, but Frolik answered nearly five minutes later by cleaning up his own rebound.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Winnipeg's previous high in goals was six, which was accomplished in a victory over Minnesota on Dec. 27. ... Dallas captain Jamie Benn saw his four-game goal-scoring streak come to an end. ... Seguin has collected five goals and six assists on his point streak. ... Kane scored on a breakaway 7:33 into the third for his first goal since Jan. 21.
