Justin Fontaine, Jason Zucker and defenseman Nate Prosser also scored while Darcy Kuemper made 20 saves for the Wild, who improved to 14-3-0 against the Oilers since the start of the 2010-11 season. Pominville had been held off the scoresheet for three straight games and had not scored a goal in six.
Jordan Eberle netted the lone tally for Edmonton, which has not won in regulation outside of Alberta since Dec. 1. Scrivens stopped 29 shots after joining the team on Wednesday in a trade with the Los Angeles Kings.
Pominville opened the scoring by backhanding the puck around Scrivens midway through the first period after Mikael Granlund created a turnover by Oilers defenseman Martin Marincin behind Edmonton’s net. Pominville also assisted on Prosser’s first of the season - a slap shot from the right faceoff circle that went in off Scrivens’ glove with 3:15 remaining in the second that put Minnesota ahead for good.
Eberle tied the game 2:36 into the second period, when he cut to the slot during a rush and beat Kuemper with a wrist shot. Prosser and Fontaine gave Minnesota a 3-1 advantage after 40 minutes and Zucker capped the scoring eight seconds into the third on a give-and-go with Dany Heatley.
